8-Day Primates of Uganda Adventure Safari
From: USD $3,800.00
We're as excited as you are to get started on your Ugandan safari. After an introduction to your guide and a few brief formalities, it's time to get out there and find the animals for which Uganda is so famous.
Today we head to Murchison Falls National Park, which is Uganda's largest conservation area and one of its most rewarding overall safari destinations. Wildlife viewing activities focus on the Nile River, a mesmerizing tropical waterway that supports impressive concentrations of hippo, crocodile and aquatic birds, and attracts plenty of other thirsty wildlife, from elephants and buffaloes to giraffes and antelope. The park is named after its scenic highlight: an explosive waterfall formed by the Nile as it siphons through a narrow crack in the Rift Valley escarpment.
Situated 40km north of Entebbe and its international airport, Kampala is a modern capital with a population of at least two million set at the hub of the national road network.
Kibale National Park is one of East Africa’s most important chimp strongholds. This forested park is home to roughly 1,000 of these charismatic apes, the largest population in the region, and the chances of a close-up sighting are excellent. Even if you don't manage to see chimps, listen out for their unforgettable pant-hoot call as it resonates through the forest interior. Other wildlife you might encounter in Kibale includes monkeys such as Uganda mangabey, Uganda red colobus and red-tailed monkey, and an astounding 370 bird species.
A community-run wetland sanctuary, Bigodi is renowned for its high standard of guiding. Forest birds are the main priority of many visitors, but it's also a great showcase for Kibale Forest's monkey diversity, with red colobus, black-and-white colobus and Uganda mangabey among the most common species.
Perched on the northern shore of Lake Victoria, Entebbe is an attractively leafy town that doubles as the site of the country's main airport.
As your safari in Uganda ends, it's time to look back on your trip with us and enjoy the incredible memories we're sure you have.
